Reunion Info

The dates of the reunion are from Thursday August 2nd through Sunday August 5th. The place we have chosen to is The Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino. The Golden Nugget has undergone major remodeling and is now considered to be one of the best kept secrets in Vegas. In addition to the remodel, Golden Nugget has also added two brand new towers. All the rooms are suites. The rates start at $52 and night Monday through Thursday and $82 Friday through Saturday. When you book your rooms reference the Bourne Family Reunion and ask to book the Carson Tower. They also have larger rooms available up to a 2 story suite should you decide to “go large”

Because Las Vegas is a major tourist destination hotel and meeting rooms book up pretty quickly. We have asked Golden Nugget to hold 75 rooms for us. They have agreed to that but will not hold them indefinitely especially at this price. We are also under a time limit to let them know how many people will attend the banquet. With that said, please let us know if you will be attending as soon as possible.

We are planning what we hope to be one of the most memorable reunions you will ever attend. As with many large events we have added a $5 registration fee person. We know this is a change but there are two main reasons for this. The prices you see listed for the events of the reunion represent their exact cost. There is no “padding” to cover incidentals. There will always be incidentals. And second, it is crucial that we get an accurate count of how many will be attending. Getting a commitment by sending in your registration will help to do this. Right now we are being established as a group with the Golden Nugget. Once that happens you will be able to book your hotel reservation under our name. You will book your hotel reservation directly with the Golden Nugget. As soon as we get confirmation we will give let you know when it’s ok to book.

There are a few important dates that we have set.
Please book your hotel room by September 30th.
Please send your $5 registration per person in by September 30th.
Have ¼ of your reunion cost paid by October 31st.
We are asking as much as possible that these deadlines be met.

Method of Reservation
In order to book reservations please have your guests contact our reservations department 800-634-3454. Pleased be advised that you must to state you are booking with the Bourne Family Reunion code 1E804Q to assure you receive the group rate.

Other than booking your hotel room, payment for the reunion will be handled by the Chicago group. Please make the check out to “Bourne Reunion”. Mail your payments to:

You have a couple ways to get around in Vegas. There are plenty of options for you to rent a vehicle once you arrive in Vegas. You can also get an RTA (public transportation) pass that cost $15 for three days. Or you can bum a ride with a relative.

Throughout the year we will be sending more updates and information about the reunion. Some of you may have already found us on Face Book. We will continue to update Face Book. We will also be communicating by email, telephone and word of mouth.

Reunion Update

Registration

Registration will be held at the Golden Nugget Hotel starting on Wednesday. We really need everyone to start sending in their reunion money. Please make your check out to “Bourne Reunion”. Mail your payments to: 21128 Christina DR Matteson, Il 60443.

We will be securing a room or area as we get closer.

THE HOUSE

This property sits on almost an acre of land with lush landscaping.

Fish Fry

The fish fry will be held on Friday at the house. Come and enjoy some good eats with your folks

The fish fry committee will be responsible to provide other sides like salad, bread and drinks. The menu will also include red beans and rice and spaghetti.

Activities

There will be plenty of activities for everyone. We will be trying to have activities that everybody can participate in. The activities committee has a list of events and outing they will be presenting. This committee will be putting together a sign up sheet to help us understand what folks are interested in doing while in Las Vegas. Once this list is put together they will be putting together a schedule to coordinate all of the events. Some of the activities they have include: Golfing, morning hikes at Mt Charleston or Red Rock, water activities at Lake Mead, Grand Canyon tour, a helicopter tour, pajama party, shopping, extreme bowling, Young adult night (clubs for 21 and over), a night out for younger adults ( pool party on the STRIP), arcade game day for pre-teens, First Fridays in the art district. The list goes on.

Rochelle Durr will head the activities committee.

Reunion Party

The reunion party will be held at THE HOUSE. This will be a great event for the entire family to get together to mingle. There will be music, dancing and eating. We are planning on having a DJ to spin the tunes. Music appropriate for everybody. We will be lighting up the grill so expect plenty of hamburgers, hot dogs and whatever else we can through on the grill. Since THE HOUSE has a pool, swim wear is encouraged. We are expecting to start the party around 6pm and it will go on until….There will be plenty of other games to enjoy like dominos, Pictionary, etc. Or you can just sit back and do nothing.

Banquet

The lunch banquet will be held on Saturday at the Golden Nugget. It is schedule from 1200pm to 300pm. We are still in the process of finalizing the main activities for the banquet. But count on it being something special and different. We are planning on having a photographer there to take portraits of individual families and the banquet itself. So come looking sharp. We also will be establishing a time capsule that will be opened every other reunion. We will be asking participants to bring something special to deposit in the time capsule. It could be a picture, letter or personal item. Nothing perishable.

Transportation

There are several ways to get around Las Vegas. You can catch a cab just about from anywhere. Busses run from the heart of the city to just about any place in the Las Vegas valley. For a small fee you can purchase a bus pass for transportation up and down the strip. We will be providing limited transportation to and from venues throughout the week. The transportation committee will be working with the activities committee to help coordinating needs.

T-shirts

The color of the t-shirt are "Texas Orange".

Photographer

We will have a team of folks responsible for taking pictures and videos at all the activities and events. Our plan is to archive these pictures each night and make them available to the family. We will do this by downloading the day’s photos to social media sights like Facebook, Flickr and Photo Bucket. We also will be downloading the photos to a blog that we are currently setting up for the family. We will also be encouraging family members to share photos they have taken as well. Gerald Oatis and Kendrick Bourne will be heading this committee.

Red Rock Canyon

Red Rock Canyon ... is situated on the eastern flanks of the Spring Mountains around a narrow valley located around 15 miles west of downtown Las Vegas. Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area (NCA) extends from just north of Mt. Potosi to the northern face of the Spring Mountains. Red Rock Canyon is close to downtown and the tourist areas and borders the western suburbs of Las Vegas. 'Red Rock' as it is known to the locals, gets its name from the red colored sandstone formation embedded in the mountains that form the western and northern margins of this small valley. Red colored layers of sandstone streak horizontally across mountains known as the Wilson Cliffs and can be seen from almost anywhere in Las Vegas valley.
